We also have a wide range of classes and sessions for young climbers, events for corporate groups, activities for Birthday Parties, and even options for Stags and Hens looking for something that little bit different.
In addition, as our new developments have been completed, we can offer even greater flexible and range in our climbing – and a broader programme of complementary activities that go so well with climbing.
Literally meaning “iron way” via ferrata originated in the Italian Dolomites to make the steep rocky terrain of the Dolomites passable using a series of iron rungs, ladders and bridges. Via Ferrata’s have grown in popularity recently with the increase in climbing tourism as they allow people to experience the thrill of climbing huge cliffs without the need for a great deal of technical knowledge or equipment.
Our Via Ferrata takes inspiration from the ones in the Dolomites with its steep ladders that will bring you right up to the climbers on our main wall, but with some exciting new sections including a caving experience, a swing and a 20m free fall abseil at the end, all with the great advantage of being indoors, so it never rains! This is an ideal activity for anyone looking for a challenge with a difference and is great for both complete novices and experienced climbers looking to try something new.
Beware though, this is a scary activity, you must be comfortable at heights with exposure feelings and in small spaces with possible tight squeezes in poor light! A reasonable level of fitness is also necessary as this activity is challenging and physical!

Indoor climbing with a difference! It’s fun, it’s weird, it’s wacky, it’s totally CRAZY!
The Lakeland Climbing Centre brings you an exciting new activity, with CrazyClimb. A unique and original way to experience climbing and get on the wall without the need for any tying of ropes or learning how to use complicated safety devices.
Tackle all of our 12 different climbing towers. Each tower has its very own special theme, some devious, some mind bending and some downright ridiculous. You’ll pit your climbing strength, your climbing skill and your climbing wits to try and reach the very top of each one.
Bring your family and friends and they too can compete against you and each other to see who’s the fastest, the strongest and the bravest throughout all the different challenges! And if competition is not your thing, then fear not as Kendal CrazyClimb prides itself on being a supportive and inclusive activity, where teamwork and encouragement can be key to succeeding on each of the climbs.
CrazyClimb does not require you to have any previous climbing experience. It doesn’t need you to be able to tie baffling knots or use complicated safety devices. The TruBlue auto belay systems will get you safely up the wall and lower you softly to the ground, all you have to do is climb!
