The Lakeland Climbing Centre offers superb indoor and outdoor rock climbing experiences and is Cumbria’s premier climbing centre with the tallest indoor climbing wall in the country and the finest bouldering walls in the Lake District and North West of England. Our experienced team is dedicated to helping people experience the exhilaration that climbing has to offer in a truly unique and atmospheric venue. Whatever your climbing goals are we offer a wide range of sessions, courses, and climbing facilities to suit beginners through to experts.

The Kendal Wall offers a warm and welcoming environment and caters for individuals, experienced and non experienced climbing families, groups large and small, school and youth groups, birthday parties, stag and hen parties, corporate days, team building events, conferences - anyone who wants to share our passion for climbing.

The Lakeland Climbing Centre is also a Primary Awarding Centre for the National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme (NICAS), which provides our young climbers with the opportunity to follow a structured and logged progression.

Our Big Plans - Improving our climbing facilities even further

The Lakeland Climbing Centre is currently undertaking a massive re-development to extend and enhance our facilities. Phase Two of the development is now complete and the Climbing Centre extends over 5 levels offering a range of climbing and bouldering areas and activities to suit everyone. We have added a dedicated training room, a family-friendly room for beginners to intermediate climbers (The Den), an enormous new bouldering room (The Marmot Loft), Creamery Cafe, new reception area with a well stocked climbing shop and two conference/meeting rooms as well increasing the number of leading lines to over 60 and extending our main wall to a height of 25m making us the tallest indoor climbing wall in the country. All our developments have enabled us to extend the scope of our services which now include yoga classes, catered birthday parties, conference facilities and social functions. We intend to extend our facilities further in 2013 to include a via ferrata and thrilling zip wire descent.

New Physio Sessions

For those of you carrying any niggles or injuries or those of you who just might want to get more information on injury prevention and warming up, we've made a few changes to our in-house physio sessions.

Alison Bloxham of the Kendal Physiotherapy and Sports Injuries Clinic will now be available on alternate Wednesdays from 6-8pm for an informal chat, assessment and even treatment should it be be required. No appointment is necessary – just come along and let Alison know you want to see her!

Alison will be asking for a nominal £5 fee (cash or cheque only) and this would be discounted off any further assessment charge that you may require in the Clinic.

New sessions will run from Wednesday 20th of March.

After School Clubs

Climbing is a fun, exciting, sociable and adventurous activity. Come down with your friends or make new friends in your sessions! Courses last for 6 weeks and are run every half term, Primary School sessions on tuesdays, Secondary School sessions on thursdays.

Little Monkeys

Little Monkeys are 8 year olds and under who are being closely supervised by experienced adult climbers who have signed up to our 'Close Supervision' agreement.

The Creamery Café

One of the most recent additions to our superb facilities is The Creamery Café where you can enjoy delicious handmade cakes and sandwiches, fresh tea and coffee, juice and snacks.

It's the perfect place to be sociable, take on vital refreshment and sustenance after a tough climbing session, or relax as you wait for your young climbers to finish their sessions.
