Latest news:

Here at the Lakeland Climbing Centre we boast the largest Climbing Centre and Wall in the Lake District offering extensive facilities to suit all levels of climbing ability. We're set up with all of the facilities you need to start, or continue, your climbing journey with us.

The focal point of our indoor climbing area is the Main Hall with its 25 metre high leading wall. Other facilities include a variety of brand new bouldering areas to suit beginners through to experts, the Chamber and Den (offering excellent climbing for children and beginners), our new Training Room, Birthday Party room, Conference and Meeting rooms, Kendal Wall Shop,  yoga and fitness classes.

The Centre has changing, toilet and shower facilities and the Creamery Cafe with children's corner where customers can watch people climb, take in the atmosphere or take a break for a fresh coffee, slice of delicious homemade cake or sandwich.

New for 2012 we are hoping to install a unique indoor Via Ferrata, and a variety of aerial activities including a 24m indoor abseil shaft.

Indoor Rock Climbing Facilities

Here at the Kendal Wall we have a vast range of angles, height and wall surface to play with, which, when combined with our route setting team and a large variety of holds, result in well over 200 routes and 20 bouldering circuits of all styles and grades  to keep you entertained at the Centre.

Our main roped climbing area is the impressive Main Hall with 50 leading lines ranging from slabs to roofs, from 7m to a staggering 25m high and with route grades from 3 to 8b.  The Chamber has a more modest range of walls and route grades, an ample supply of in situ top-ropes as well as leading suitable for those new to the game, and there are also 3 top roping lines included in our new beginners bouldering room, the Den. As part of the Centre's 2011 development, we have significantly increased the amount of climbing in the Main Hall with a new 20m high multifaceted vertical wall and a 10m high leaning prow and slabs (the King Kong wall)

We have three bouldering areas offering everything from low-reach kids circuits to elite competition level with everything in between.

Outdoor Rock Climbing in the Lake District

We are not just an indoor climbing wall, we also run a wide range of outdoor rock climbing courses and activities. Based in the North West of England in Cumbria, the gateway to the Lake District, we are situated in one of the best possible locations in the UK for rock climbing. The Lake District has superb traditional climbing and the Yorkshire Dales offers modern sport climbing as well as gritstone and limestone outcrops.

There are also many good local crags around the Kendal and Lake District areas.

Whichever facilities you choose to use, we know you'll enjoy your climbing journey with the Lakeland Climbing Centre.
