Posted in Lecture Evenings

16 March 2012 - Mark Radtke

A Canvas of Rock is Mark's recollections of climbing, friendships and experiences from the 70's to the present date. A fascinating insight into the world of climbing and climbers.

Mark 'Rad' Radtke has been climbing for many years, trad, sport and Alpine, a true all rounder. In this lecture Mark examines his own take on risk through intimate first hand accounts at the 'sharp end'. His friendships with influential climbers from the 70's, 80's and the present day, makes him uniquely placed to provide factual first hand commentary on crucial historical developments that paved the way top today's rock climbing scene.

Tickets will cost £2 on the night or Climb, Soup, Show for £10, and £12 for non members

'I never get bored when I am hanging out with Rad and it has been the same reading his story. His sense of adventure and playfulness were born in the mining village of Hemsworth in the 60's and 70's and has been with him on adventures all over the world. His approach to life is unconventional and a welcome relief from the risk aversion that has infected our society. When the stakes are high, the rewards are great and Radtke is living proof of this'.
