COVID-19 KendalWall Closed from 10pm Friday 20 March

Dear KendalWall Climbers

We regretfully have to inform you that KendalWall will be closed from 10pm Friday 20th March.  Covid-19 is a terrible challenge to everyone and our thoughts and sympathies go out to all those affected in so many ways.

We want to thank all our customers who have supported us over the years and who have helped create such a close community atmosphere at Kendal.  We have had a good winter and are in reasonable financial shape.  We are going to try to retain all our staff for as long as we can and they will be gainfully employed in a massive spring clean and refurbishment tasks.  We hope to welcome you back in the not-too-distant future!  Our staff are largely young, fit and healthy folk so please do contact us if you have a local community support project in need of willing hands or are just locked down as a vulnerable person and in need of help.

Climbing is so important for so many people’s physical and mental health and well-being, even more so during these changing times.  We want to provide what we can to help you through this, within the constraints of social distancing.  We will be reopening the Wall as soon as we feel it is appropriate with the same strong hygiene procedures that we have been employing to date, and in the meantime are planning some online training videos which hopefully will keep you all smiling and working hard to stay healthy and fit, and in many cases doing some long overdue prehab!

We are finalising the details for ensuring that any customers with current bookings, memberships and regular user periods have clear postponement information and details on requesting refunds if preferred.  Please rest assured we intend to honour our terms and conditions with respect to this closure, but in this fast-moving situation we have a lot of queries to deal with.  Please email us or look out for further information on our website over the next week.  And I would add that anyone who can continue to support us over this period with their membership payments will be rewarded when we are back on our feet. The best way to support us if you would like to purchase a gift card or punches to use in the winter is to email us, so we can contact you.  We really appreciate all and any support from our customers during these challenging times.

Thank you to each and every one of you who has climbed with us over the last 25 years – this will be a marathon and not a sprint, or should I say, a mountain to climb and not just a pitch?

We wish you, your family and community all the best for these next few months and look forward to welcoming you back as soon as is safely possible.

The KendalWall Team
