GB Development Squad training at Kendal Wall

We’ve had a great weekend with the GB Development Squad having their first training camp of 2019 at the wall. Perhaps you noticed the 7b – 8a routes on the King Kong wall and Petzl main wall? The squad were the juniors, ranging in age from 11-18 and are the athletes who will represent Great Britain at international competitions. The young athletes also had a go round our Skyline (indoor Via Ferrata) as part of their weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lucinda Whittaker (BMC Talent Development Co-ordinator) commented that,

‘The weekend was a great start to the GB National Development Squad 2019 season at the Kendal climbing wall – the centre was very welcoming and had all of the facilities we required to run a successful event. The athletes enjoyed climbing the routes that were specially set for the event and the wall offered a great training surface for the European competition season. The athletes loved the team building sessions on the Via ferrata, with many athletes having numerous turns. Being able to use the training room for the physical profiling and the meeting rooms for technical feedback sessions ensured the weekend ran really smoothly. We would like to thank all the staff for supporting us in what was a great weekend!’
