Skyline: Indoor Via Ferrata
The Lakeland Climbing Centre presents: Skyline, the UK’s latest Arial adventure and Europe’s only indoor Via Ferrata!
What is it?
Via Ferrata is Italian for ‘Iron Way’, it originated in the Dolomites as a means of traversing otherwise inaccessible mountainous terrain. Unlike bouldering or climbing you follow a metal cable using metal rungs and ladders to scale our walls, all the while using simple safety equipment to protect yourself.
During your Via Ferrata experience you will be accompanied by one of our trained leaders who will teach you to use the safety equipment and coach you through the course, so no prior experience is necessary.
Who is it for?
Skyline is the perfect activity for anyone; from family groups to thrill seekers, stag do’s to school groups.
There are two different journeys available, each suited to different ages and abilities.
- Skyline: The Launch
The Launch is a great starting point to learn all the skills needed for the full aerial adventure. It is perfect for younger participants aged 8 or over. Unlike traditional climbing, it is difficult to simply lower participants to the floor so due to the committing nature of the course children aged 8-10 need to have a participating adult to help them along the route; each adult can accompany up to 2 children.
Duration: 45-60 minutes
Group Size: Maximum of 8 people
2: Skyline: Indoor Areal Adventure
Skyline is the full journey that starts with the Launch and takes you through the ‘Squeeze Press’ tunnel and on to the rest of the course. Once through the tunnel you will tackle a series of ladders swings and for the grand finale, ‘SkyJump Extreme’ – a rapid 20 meter descent with 3 meters of free fall (Optional)!
Skyline is open to participants aged 11 and over. Unlike traditional climbing, it is difficult to simply lower participants to the floor so due to the committing nature of the course children under 16 must be accompanied by a participating adult to assist on the course; each adult can accompany up to 2 children.
Price: £22pp or £110 for exclusive use.
Duration: 60-90 minutes
Group Size: Maximum of 6 people
