This class is suitable for beginners and more experienced practitioners alike. You do not have to be a member of the climbing wall to join us; however it is a great opportunity for climbers, as well as cyclists, runners, mountaineers etc to continue developing strength, mobility and balance as a means to support their chosen ‘sport’.

More about Lou Curry

I teach a variety of classes including mixed, women/men-only, pregnancy, parent & baby, children, teens and menopause yoga classes; and I run these from my home studio as well as in Kendal town centre itself and here at the climbing wall. I also teach weekly sessions in our local primary and secondary schools, working with their students and staff.

Beyond that, I run day and weekend retreats / workshops and I love to work collaboratively with other specialists in their field – to create wellbeing events such as yoga and walking, yoga and swimming, yoga and running and so on.

Personally I don’t regard Yoga as a sport, but as a means to open up space in the body and mind; to be curious about the opportunities to move, pause, rest and breath. My approach to teaching yoga is less about exact direction or trying to perfect some given pose, and more about encouraging and guiding us to move in a way that best suits our own individual needs – functionally and with freedom.

My own yoga practice has had such a positive impact on my approach to and the improvement in my climbing and weight training – I climb and train (at least twice a week) with more confidence, self-awareness and mindfulness; and, I regularly discover elements / benefits that are shared across them all.

If you’re interested in joining us on Thursday evenings or would like more information, please feel free to get in touch – I am more than happy to have a chat and see what I can do to support you.

Many thanks,

Lou ?
